1. What is a Lithium-ion battery pack?
Firstly, let’s look into the differences among cells, modules and packs:
Cells: The most basic element that makes up the battery modules and packs. One cell usually can offer 3-4 voltages.
Battery Modules: One module is usually composed of a series of battery cells which can provide higher capacity and voltage than one single cell.
Battery Packs: One complete Lithium-ion battery pack generally consists of a series of battery modules. Besides, for an end product, it usually incorporates a Battery Management System (BMS).
Battery Pack Types
As the core component of battery packs, the shapes of battery cells are usually categorized into three major types: prismatic type, cylindrical type and pouch type (Li-polymer cell). Positive and negative electrodes are encapsulated into the corresponding containers in different techniques.
